![]() But if you are used to Ableton or whatever, it's probably going to feel kinda naked. I think it's a win for those of us that will never be able to afford even a digital Harrison console from the 80's. I think that's a win for the open source community. So it's not perfect, but it was good enough to convert the folks working on the audio department at Lucas Arts and many more! Someone had the genius idea, hey if that tech worked in the 80's that will be a breeze compared to a protools session saddled with 5 plugins on each track for modern processing power! And they took the same code and sandwiched it on top of open source Ardour. ![]() They did that by modeling their analog board with 80s digital technology. There's also some other odd behaviour with that input field. I stumbled across Harrison Mixbus yesterday from a thread I read on this forum, so I decided to check it out. If I type in 0.020 (20 milliseconds) then it automatically reverts to 0.2 (10ths). I've changed the 'Nudge Clock' to seconds but it looks like the finest measure is in 10ths and not 1000ths (milliseconds) which is what I'd like. To my understanding, Harrison were the first console company to switch to digital and ACTUALLY convert engineers using analog boards. Nudging a track or region in milliseconds. A legendary piece of gear.īut here's the piece of the puzzle we're missing in this thread. But essentially, the idea is to set up the gain staging the same way one might with a 32c analog board. In my case it's the best scenario because reaper has been a LITTLE dodgey on Linux but probably better than when I last tried. ![]() I've been using mixbus 32c for many years now on Linux. It's a little more complicated than that (a positive and a negative-leaning neutral in my opinion.) The plugins are pretty much self-explanatory. Its commonly available on Reverb around 400. Mixbus provides professional-level features to import or record an unlimited number of audio tracks to your computer, edit them, and mix them together. The same cannot be said for the Beatles film career, where John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison had a far more mixed track record. It is a package consisting of console emulation plugins and a hardware controller. Just wanted to chime in that's it's not just "analog" or "saturation" they are going after. Ardour/Mixbus Installation: Connect your Impact LX/+ or GX controller to your computer. Mixbus is a full-featured Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) with True Analog Mixing: a combination of Harrisons world-renowned sound and features in an affordable, knob-per-function interface. ![]()
